|SUBMISSION GI AND NO GI JIU-JITSUBrazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) was the first martial art to dominate the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) and it remains one of the most effective forms of self-defence and an essential component of modern MMA.BJJ is it’s simpler form promotes the concept of a smaller and weaker person can defend against a bigger stronger assailant by using proper technique and taking the fight to the ground and applying joint-locks (submissions) and various choke holds to defeat the person.
A grappling-centric art, the goal of BJJ is to force your opponent into submission with joint locks and chokes. The emphasis is on technique and leverage and BJJ was designed to allow a smaller person defeat a stronger foe with ease.
With top-rate instruction, hygienic facilities and a positive and safe training environment, BodyForce MMA and Conditioning’s Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu program ranks among the best in India.
A typical BJJ class starts with a sport specific warm-up some light jogging followed by stretching and drilling of the fundamental skills and movements of BJJ.
With everyone properly warmed up, your instructor will demonstrate a technique — be it a position, submission, sweep, takedown or escape — answer any questions you may have and then personally walk you through applying the technique with a training partner. All training is highly supervised and taught in the safest way possible.
When you are a comfortable with the first technique, a second and perhaps third technique is often taught, with all techniques generally working to compliment or counter the previous one.
BJJ can be accurately described as a game of human chess. The best BJJ practitioners chain their techniques together in combination and work to counter their opponent at every turn and this is how our classes are taught. BJJ is a low-impact, thinking person’s take on martial arts and as the UFC has shown, it’s one of the most effective fighting styles in the world.
Once you have learned the fundamentals, you will get a chance to apply what you know. Classes are generally finished with rolling, the BJJ version of sparring. BJJ is a grappling art and so there are no punches or kicks, just wrestling and submissions. If you are caught in submission, you can tap out and your partner will release the hold. Rolling is a lot of fun, closely supervised and quite safe compared to many other sports.
To help introduce you to the rewarding art of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, BodyForce MMA and Conditioning offers classes specifically tailored towards beginners. Our BJJ classes take place on comfortable and hygienic mats that are cleaned and sterilised daily.
